Neste artigo, aprenderemos a formar o plural em inglês

A maioria dos substantivos tem seu plural em inglês formado a partir do acréscimo de “s” ao seu singular.

Geralmente, podemos transformar muito facilmente os substantivos em inglês para as suas formas no plural; simplesmente, temos que adicionar “s” ou “es” no final do substantivo.

‏Substantivos que terminam em “y” formam o plural alterando o “y” por “i” e adicionando “es” depois.

Mas também existem os irregulares.

Para os irregulares não basta adicionar “s” ou “es” no final do substantivo.

Para os irregulares temos que trocar a palavra inteira.

‎Por exemplo: “foot” no plural fica “feet” e “man” no plural fica “men”

O artigo definido “the” é usado com os substantivos, tanto no singular como no plural.

Exemplos:

Para colocar a frase, “This car is new” (este carro é novo) no plural, temos que converter a palavra “This” que é singular, para “These” que é plural;

Também convertemos “is” em “are” e adicionamos um “s” no final do substantivo “car”.

Ficando: These cars are new.

Na frase, “That mountain is tall” (aquela montanha é alta), temos que converter “that” que é singular em “those” que é plural, e “is” que é singular em “are” que é plural e adicioanr “s” no final do substantivo “mountain”.

Ficando assim: Those mountains are tall.

• That mountain is tall – Those mountains are tall
• That camera is yellow – Those cameras are yellow
• That woman is pretty – Those women are pretty
• That car is ugly – Those cars are ugly
• The dog is big – The dogs are big
• This boy is young – These boys are young
• This car is new – These cars are new
• This boat is fast – These boats are fast
• The desk is near the door – The desks are near the door
• The child is playing – The children are playing
• His foot is big – His feet are big
• The train stops here – The trains stop here
• The milk is white – The milks are white
• That guy is cool – Those guys are cool.
• The man is hungry – The men are hungry
• The woman is gorgeous – The women are gorgeous
• My friend is here – My friends are here
• The mouse is black – The mice are black
